The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is using an advisory approach to tackle road accidents this festive season.
Its deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Ahmad said officials met with bus companies and bus driver associations to remind them about their responsibilities when ferrying passengers.
“Most of the time, we blame the drivers. But this time, we are taking a softer approach,” Ismail said after inspecting buses at the Duta bus terminal.
He said officers had inspected buses at 64 depots and 32 terminals nationwide.
Since JPJ began its operations on Aug 14, a total of 1,500 express buses have been inspected.
